For Christmas, Santa Claus bestowed an Xbox 360 to my good little children (they're all little girls, no need for one of the new systems). I have seen quite a few of you stating that you play games on Xbox Live against each other, and this non-gamer wants in. I have some questions.
As the title states, I need to know what racing games are the most popular for the Xbox platform here. I'll probably go out and buy a couple for myself in a few weeks. No rush, though. Work has been busy and my young children/wife keep me occupied for the vast majority of the remaining waking hours that I have.
Also, do the games you play allow for vocal interaction? Do you have headsets that you can chat with each other with? That would be a lot of fun in my book. If so, does anyone have any suggestions as to a good wireless headset that I could use?
I'll buy a first person shooter as well (probably COD Ghosts), but I'd love to jump on with some of y'all and rip up a virtual track or two. So please, enlighten this old fart a little. I promise I won't talk too much trash during the races.

360 automatically means Forza. What else is there?!

F1 2012, and of course Forza.

Forza 4 is your best choice for a hardcore racer, where Forza Horizons is just fun

Which Forza? Aren't there a couple out there?
The newest version, I'm sure.

What about headsets? Do people use them for the game?

On the 360 there's Forza 4 and Forza Horizon. I've never played any of them, so you'll have to ask someone else for more specifics.

I would start off with forza horizon. My first racing game since GT on ps2. It's tons of fun.

Not as big a deal for Forza 4, but you'll probably want one for Horizon, especially when doing a free roam

Forza 4. No ifs ands or buts about it.

I'm not a gamer, as such. But I do own Forza 4 with the MS steering wheel and pedals. I found the whole package on CL for $40.
It's a gas.
I'm thinking about Xbox live for the new year, so if you go live, drop me a line.

Ya, Forza 4 is hard to master at first but once they get deeper into the game it gets easy, there is also Forza 3 Which is an older title but still holds up very well. Very fun I might add as well it is also hard to master at first. Then you have Horizon which would be your best bet because it is very easy to get the hang of and it feels smooth and the sound track is very good.

Forza, Forza, and more Forza.

Forza Motorsport 4 is worth every penny.
...but it'd be quite costly to get all the DLC cars. There hasn't been a Collector's Edition announced yet, if it'll ever happen.

Not much of a gamer. But XBox live is awesome. Some great live racing on there.

Cruis'n USA.

Apart from the obvious Forza 4 and Horizon you might give Trials Evolution a go. Not necessarily what you were looking for but it's great.
Edit: And it's cheap only 15 bucks.

Forza 4 is king on the 360, but I actually preferred Forza 3. You can pick it up used for basically nothing. It has less cars, but better steering and more tracks.

Check amazon and eBay for a keypad , headset, & 12 month Xbox live card. They'll go for $60-70 and the keypad is nice and extends the bottom middle of controller for a little better feel. Then the headset plugs into the controller & & keypad. That's a good start. My 2 year old destroyed the headset and I have not renewed my live subscription since most of same stuff is on ps3 W/ no subscription (yet). Also if really get into driving games there are wheels with pedals. But try it and see if you like it. FM3 should be available cheap used, and horizon should be too now that FM4 came out.

Forza 4 for sure, #1 racing game on Xbox by far. Forza Horizon is good too but no where close to FM4, so if you want 2 car games, I'd say pick that up (with Fourza) or get F1 2012 or download F1 2013, unless you want to wait until F1 2013 comes out on a physical disk which is what I'm doing. As for your FPS, Ghosts has a good campaign (where you play by yourself in the story) but for online multiplayer, I'd say Black Ops 2 is better, if that helps you decide between those 2.

Forza 4 is closed racetracks, extensive customization of cars, a very entusiast-oriented experience.
Forza Horizon is open world, open public roads. Imagine those country roads where you're like, "Man I wish I could hoon this in a _____," well now you can. Still lots of customization, but not to the extent of 4.
Depends what you want. Ultra-traditional enthusiast-oriented racetrack simulation, or hybrid arcade-simulation open world carfest? Both are good, pick to suit your tastes.

Forza Horizon is a blast... great graphics, fun cars, and a .ot of goofiness (dropping GT500 engines into Vista Crusiers etc)
Forza 4 is also good but more hardcore racing..
Wanna be cheap and have fun? Pick up Need for speed Hot Pursuit.. the best NFS on 360 IMPO

Forza 4, NFS Hot Pursuit, Burnout Paradise, and PGR4.

pretty much nothing else. My wife bought me the star wars 360 as a gift and was depressed when I told her she basically bought me a $500 copy of forza because that's all I wanted a 360 for.

forza 4 is the latest forza (actual forza not that horizon garbage) on 360
